How to Use the Insulation Oil Dielectric Strength Tester

How to use the insulation oil dielectric strength tester? The insulation oil dielectric strength tester is mainly used to test the insulation withstand voltage properties of insulating oil in transformers. It is a very direct way to judge the insulation performance of insulating oil. However, the testing process of this equipment is somewhat complex, so many power workers find it difficult to grasp the essentials during initial use. This article takes the YTC3601 insulation oil dielectric strength tester as an example to briefly introduce how to use the insulation oil dielectric strength tester.

When using the insulation oil dielectric strength tester for testing, the following procedures should be followed:

        1. Reliably ground the instrument

        2. With the power off, place the magnetic stirrer into the oil test cup

        3. The test oil must be placed in the laboratory for a period of time without breaking the original sealed storage state, and the lid can only be removed for testing after the oil temperature is close to room temperature. Before removing the lid, gently shake the test oil to evenly distribute internal impurities, but do not create bubbles. Before the test, rinse the oil cup 2-3 times with the test oil.

        4. With the power off, pour the test oil sample into the oil cup. When injecting the test oil into the cup, it should slowly flow down along the inner wall of the cup to reduce bubbles. During operation, do not touch the electrodes, the inside of the oil cup, or the test oil with your hands. After filling the oil cup, it must be left to stand for 10-15 minutes before starting the voltage withstand test.

        5. With the power off, cover the electrode cover and close the high-voltage compartment

        6. Turn on the power switch. After the welcome screen appears, the instrument automatically switches to the main interface as shown in Figure 2.1.

        7. By rotating the mouse, you can select operations such as breakdown test, withstand voltage test, view historical data, time setting, and PC communication.

        Breakdown test:

After entering the breakdown test, the instrument displays the interface as shown in Figure 2.2. The operation method for the breakdown test is:

        1. Set the test parameters. The items to be set include oil grade, initial rest time, number of tests, rest time, and stirring time. The initial rest time range is 0 seconds to 9 minutes 59 seconds, the rest time setting range is 0 seconds to 9 minutes 59 seconds, and the stirring time setting range is 0 seconds to 59 seconds.

        2. Select start test, enter the screen shown in Figure 2.3, and after clicking run, the instrument will cycle in the order of first raising voltage to breakdown, stirring, resting, then raising voltage to breakdown again, until the set number of tests is reached. The buzzer will sound and the test will stop.

        3. After the breakdown test is completed, the display screen of the instrument is shown in Figure 2.4. The displayed test results include the breakdown voltage, the average breakdown voltage, and the test parameter settings.

        4. Operators can also save and print the test results as needed.

During the test, if the high-voltage compartment is opened, the instrument will automatically alarm to remind the user that the high-voltage compartment has been opened. At the same time, it is strictly forbidden to open the high-voltage compartment during the test. Since this equipment is a high-voltage electrical device, there is a certain danger during use, so special attention should be paid to personal safety.
