Ultra-Low Frequency High Voltage Generator for Power Capacitors, High-Voltage Shunt Capacitors, etc.

The Ultra-Low Frequency High Voltage Generator (VLF High Voltage Generator) typically refers to a 0.1Hz ultra-low frequency withstand voltage test device. It is a specialized instrument used for insulation withstand voltage testing of large capacitance power equipment (such as long cables and large generators).

In simple terms, it is a "lightweight" alternative to traditional power frequency (50Hz) withstand voltage testing equipment. It reduces the power supply capacity required for testing by lowering the frequency, thereby solving the problem of traditional equipment being bulky and difficult to use on-site.

⚙️ Core Principle: Why Use "Ultra-Low Frequency"?

When conducting withstand voltage tests on long cables or large generators, since the insulation layer of these devices acts as a huge capacitor, using standard 50Hz power frequency electricity for testing requires extremely large charging currents, which demands a very large test transformer (weighing several tons) and substantial power supply support.

The logic of ultra-low frequency technology is:

When we reduce the frequency from 50Hz to 0.1Hz, the frequency becomes 1/500 of the original.

Therefore, the current and power supply capacity required for testing theoretically also drop to 1/500 of that at power frequency.

This significantly reduces the size and weight of the equipment (typically only 1/10 or even smaller than traditional equipment), allowing a single person or two people to carry the entire set of equipment to the site for operation.
