Overview of Three-Channel Partial Discharge Tester

A three-channel partial discharge tester is an instrument specifically designed for detecting partial discharge phenomena in high-voltage electrical equipment. Such testers typically have multiple input channels, enabling simultaneous acquisition and analysis of partial discharge signals from different locations. Below is an overview of an article about the three-channel partial discharge tester.

Three-Channel Partial Discharge Tester
Overview
A three-channel partial discharge tester is an instrument used to detect partial discharge phenomena in high-voltage electrical equipment. It evaluates the insulation condition of equipment by capturing and analyzing signals such as electromagnetic waves, acoustic waves, or electrical pulses generated by partial discharges. This testing is crucial for predicting and preventing potential faults in high-voltage electrical equipment.

Working Principle
The working principle of the three-channel partial discharge tester is based on detecting and analyzing signals generated by partial discharges. When partial discharges occur under test voltage, the tester detects high-frequency pulse currents through a system coupling capacitor. These pulse current signals are sent to the input data unit of the tester for processing. The specific process is as follows:

Signal Capture: The pulse current generated by partial discharges is captured through the coupling capacitor Ck.
Signal Amplification: The pulse signal is first preliminarily amplified by a low-noise preamplifier.
Filtering and Selection: The desired frequency range is selected through a filter amplifier to remove interfering signals.
Signal Processing: After further amplification by the main amplifier, the signal is sent to the pulse peak unit for processing to display the peak value of the pulse.
Result Display: The discharge pulses and related data such as discharge magnitude and frequency are displayed on an oscilloscope or other display devices.
Main Features
Multi-channel Design: The three-channel design allows simultaneous reception of signals from different sensors, enabling monitoring of discharges at multiple locations at the same time.
