ABB recently launched its first universal high-power DC fast charger Terra 53Z in China, which complies with Chinese standards. This fast charger is mainly targeted at commercial users such as public charging stations, electric vehicle fleets, and highway service areas in China, providing fast charging services for electric passenger cars and some electric medium buses and logistics vehicles.
This DC fast charger has a rated power of 50 kilowatts and can provide enough electricity in 20 minutes for an ordinary household electric car to travel 100 kilometers. Previously, this series of products has been applied in multiple projects abroad, including a national electric vehicle charging network to be built in the Netherlands in 2015.
Toyota, as a veteran in the automotive industry, did not have a very favorable impression of electric vehicles earlier. Toyota's president, Akio Toyoda, has publicly expressed his resistance to new energy vehicles on multiple occasions and even refused to sign the Glasgow Climate Pact. In fact, upon closer consideration, Toyoda's approach is understandable, as Toyota is a leading player in the integrated automotive industry, and new energy vehicles represent a brand-new track, essentially bringing all old and new car manufacturers back to the same starting line. On this new track, it is certainly good news for companies newly entering the automotive industry. However, for established car manufacturers, this track brings unparalleled impact. It means consumption and transformation. Nevertheless, Japan has introduced a plan to ban fuel vehicles, which has caused strong dissatisfaction from Toyoda but also made him realize that new energy is both a trend and an inevitability. Almost all electric vehicles currently on the market, including hybrid models, are equipped with kinetic energy recovery systems. Simply put, the kinetic energy recovery system converts the vehicle's kinetic energy into electrical energy during deceleration or when releasing the "accelerator," storing it in the battery to meet the charging needs of the power battery. For this system, does the brake light of a pure electric vehicle illuminate during kinetic energy recovery? Based on the current working conditions of kinetic energy recovery systems in vehicles on the market, the brake light does not illuminate when kinetic energy recovery is engaged, because whether the brake light illuminates depends mainly on the switch on the brake pedal. The brake light works through the brake light switch controlling the ground circuit. When the driver presses the brake pedal, the pedal contacts the brake light switch, forming a circuit and illuminating the rear lights. The kinetic energy recovery system and the brake light system are two separate devices. Although the kinetic energy recovery system can reduce the vehicle's speed, it does not affect the brake light.
In recent years, new energy vehicles have developed rapidly and have gradually been recognized by the world. Electric vehicles are one of the representatives of new energy vehicles, with brands such as Tesla, NIO, and XPeng emerging. Have you ever wondered why ordinary fuel vehicles are fuel-efficient on highways, while electric vehicles consume more electricity on highways? Let's discuss this issue next. Compared with electric vehicles, the efficiency of the powertrain in fuel vehicles varies greatly with engine speed. Simply put, the output efficiency of a fuel vehicle's engine is very low at low speeds, but with the advent of Atkinson cycle and the dual-cycle system of Atkinson plus Otto, as well as the application of turbocharging and direct injection technology, the power output efficiency at low engine speeds has improved. However, under high-speed conditions, generally, when a fuel vehicle's engine runs at high speed, the power output efficiency can increase by 30%-45%. The significant increase in power
Why is dual voltage needed? The biggest problem with new energy vehicles is not low battery density or high vehicle prices, but the difficulty of recharging. The solution to the recharging problem can only be achieved through on-demand configuration and characteristic matching. On-demand configuration means placing as much electrical energy in the vehicle as it needs to consume. Characteristic matching means that the vehicle's energy processing (power, torque) characteristic curve should match the vehicle's motion characteristics. Recharging also needs to consider factors such as economy, safety, and convenience. Typically, fuel vehicle owners consider refueling when the remaining fuel in the tank is less than 100 kilometers of range. Fuel and batteries are both flammable and explosive dangerous goods. Refueling and charging cause time consumption, labor intensity, and psychological feelings, which are aspects of convenience. In the "N-motor dual voltage" vehicle design, the three recharging methods of slow charging, fast charging, and battery swapping are integrated, allowing owners to choose the most suitable charging method based on actual usage scenarios. From Figures 1 and 2, we know that the average power demand of a vehicle is far lower than the maximum power of the vehicle's motor. In fuel vehicles, there is no braking

The ultimate ideal of the automotive industry is, of course, profitability; otherwise, everything is empty talk. When the electrification wave arrives, the ideal of achieving carbon neutrality seems within reach. Many automakers regard complete carbon neutrality as a medium- to long-term goal, but the implementation process varies, and the reasons are quite subtle. The adverse emissions of traditional fuel vehicles are one of the key factors in the industry's transformation. Although there is still debate over whether electric vehicles are the best solution for achieving zero emissions, they have been recognized as transitional products. Many companies have announced that they will completely abandon internal combustion engine products, but is it really good to give up products that are certain to make money to pursue an unknown future? From the perspective of reducing or offsetting carbon emissions, this is wise and necessary, but actual operation requires some wisdom. Now, let's look at the visions of some mainstream companies: Tesla has been a pure electric vehicle manufacturer since 2008, with considerable commercial success, becoming a benchmark in the electric vehicle market. Tesla has set a new benchmark for the industry, to some extent

In the automotive field, with the introduction of 48V mild hybrid systems and the increasing penetration of electric vehicles, DC/DC converters have become an indispensable part of automotive power systems. In electric vehicles, DC/DC converters can serve as a bridge between the power battery and the motor system, converting the power battery voltage to the voltage required by the motor to provide power for the vehicle. At the same time, DC/DC converters can also adjust the battery output to the voltages required by various applications, supplying power to the vehicle's low-voltage electrical equipment. ROHM's DC/DC converters applicable to 48V power systems: After the 48V mild hybrid system was proposed, it was recognized by many car manufacturers and has been used in models such as the Audi SQ7, Porsche Cayenne, and Bentley Flying Spur. The introduction of the 48V mild hybrid system can provide higher power, better performance, and save system energy consumption. Compared with the 12V system, the 48V mild hybrid system has only 1/4 of the working current at the same power and only 1/16 of the loss, and it also helps
