How should a pointer insulation resistance tester be used? Currently, insulation resistance testers mainly have two display modes: pointer type and digital type. The pointer insulation resistance tester is favored by many electric power workers because of its low price and convenient use. In this article, Yitiancheng Electric takes the YTC25pointer insulation resistance tester as an example to briefly explain how to use a pointer insulation resistance tester.

Insulation impedance measurement
Usually, the function switch ⑥ of the instrument is set to the OFF position. During measurement, set it to the MΩ or GΩ position. Lead two test wires from the ground terminal ③ and ② of the instrument to the ground terminal of the object under test and the earth, respectively. Then connect the probe ① of the instrument to the test point of the object under test and press the test button ⑤ (it can be self-locked after rotating clockwise) to start the measurement.
Note: Ensure that the test circuit does not contain components that are easily damaged by high voltage.
Reading insulation resistance value
To widen the measuring range, this instrument adopts an internal automatic range switching circuit. Therefore, the dial has a two-color scale display: the upper scale is green, and the lower scale is orange. When measuring insulation impedance, if the red LED on the dial lights up, read the insulation resistance value according to the scale in the orange area; if the green LED lights up, read the insulation resistance value according to the scale in the green area.
The insulation resistance tester is a relatively common electric power instrument, and it is also convenient to use. It is a rare power testing instrument. Electric power workers should take good care of it and use it properly during work to extend the instrument's lifespan.
